Everyone whose macs break just use them as they did with their PC. Not caring about it.
My MBP has never needed a fix since 2006 when I first bought it, and it still runs the latest software without any problem. I didn’t love my previous PC, but i love my mac
And FYI — My oldest and still working mac is from 1992
Linux and M$ are getting strong though. Let’s see what Win8 and Linux will become

I think they're pretty much equal, just more equipped for different areas. Macs are better in terms of software, while PCs are better in terms of hardware. Is that a fair enough settlement?

SOFTWARE
the software that Mac OS Supports is great. don't get me wrong. but the APIs used for software development are exclusive, and the OS is closed source. this severely limits development for the platform. Also, from what i understand, Apple makes people jump through hoops to develop for MacOS or iOS. PCs and Windows based platforms never had that problem, because anyone who knows how to code can develop for it, and though Windows is for the most part closed source, it's a LOT more open than Mac OS will ever be.
HARDWARE
PC wins this round easily. Windows doesn't really care what kind of hardware it runs on. it's FAR more varied and FAR more customizable than most macs will be. That being said, there are some macs that you can exchange the hardware on...but you better hope there are Mac OS Drivers for that device
VIRUS PROTECTION
While PCs are prone to more viral attacks, due to the formentioned looser lock on their source APIs, Mac systems are actually at more risk, and i'll tell you why. Most viruses written for Windows aren't system crippling. Boot in safe mode, run your antivirus. problem solved.
Earlier i mentioned that Macs are harder to develop for...but that doesn't mean you can't (hell, they got STEAM now
I apologize if i come off as douchey, it was not my intention. All i was aiming for is to show the pros and cons of both systems. Personally, i am a PC person strictly because of the compatability of the software and the modular capabilities of the hardware...and i'm a gamer, and most games are on PC. if i was NOT a gamer, i would most likely be running a top of the line Mac.
